Drum Comping = AGHHH

Ok so producers who comp drums without using ProTools’ “warp” feature in elastic audio will understand when I say “OMG”… it may be one of the most boring jobs when it comes to working on a track, tab to transient, cut, move… not fun!!

So after a 5 hour stint of working on a couple of drum tracks for an upcoming album I have been asked to produce I can safely say I never want to see a tab key again.

And to make it worse the drummer uses a lot of double bass and the songs are 5 minutes long but the outcome is so worth the pain of sitting there, eyes watering because you haven’t blinked with a numb arse.

Off to the studio tomorrow to record bass though, very excited about this as my new ribbon mic has turned up :) a 1960 Reslo RB so will be trying this out as an ambient room mic.

But for now i’m being moaned at by the other half for not watching a film so i better go and look at the romcoms :(
